 UPLAND is a magazine formed out of concern for the polarisation of politics and the prevalence of extreme ideologies in the modern world. We are not adherents of any group identity, cause, organisation or political party. By design, our contributors span the political spectrum and it is our belief that this plurality is essential. Any idea, no matter how well intentioned or reasoned, that remains unchallenged and unscrutinised, is fated for corruption. Those that have carried us the furthest have withstood scrutiny and contention at every turn. By endeavouring to always confront its own biases UPLAND hopes to uncover the nuance in ourselves and our ideas and to avoid becoming yet another echo chamber.
